ASME Visits Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research

On April 9, 2018, Christian Sanna, Director of the Nuclear Standards Department of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Kathryn Hyam, Asia Affairs Liaison, Brian Behnke, Training Manager, and Zhang Qiang, Chief Representative of ASME China, visited the Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research and Design Institute. Vice President Yan Jinquan and chief engineer warmly received ASME and his team.
Dean Yan first introduced the technical development route, advanced equipment design and technical capabilities, and the international training platform for the Shanghai Institute of Nuclear Industry with model development. At the same time, Dean Yan, who served as Chairman of the China International Working Group of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Volume III, also introduced the work and achievements of the Shanghai Nuclear Industry Institute as a working group secretariat unit.
The ASME delegation left a deep impression on the technical capabilities of the Shanghai Nuclear Industry Institute and the achievements of internationalization. Christian Sanna introduced the recent work plan of the ASME Nuclear Standards Department. The two sides conducted extensive discussions on topics such as the construction of the China International Working Group, the construction of the CAP1400 qualified supplier system, the training of ASME nuclear related specifications, and the publication of the Chinese version of ASME and Shanghai Nuclear Industry Institute.
During the visit, the ASME delegation also visited the Shanghai Science and Technology Institute exhibition hall and technological innovation exhibition hall, and listened to the special report of the intelligent design innovation team and the campus of the Shanghai University of Nuclear Power University.
Over the years, ASME and Shanghai Nuclear Industry Institute have maintained close cooperative relations. China actively participates in the development of ASME nuclear codes and standards, the construction of quality assurance systems and certification systems, and undertakes ASME-related international conferences, and serves as the ASME BPV III CIWG secretariat unit. Actively promote the research, study and application of ASME nuclear power standard system in the field of nuclear component construction in China. It strongly supports ASME's activities in China and promotes exchanges and cooperation between China and the US nuclear power industry.
