From April 12 to April 13, 2018, the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessels Regulation III (BPV III) China International Working Group held its first working meeting in Lingang, Shanghai in 2018.
More than 50 industry experts from the field of domestic nuclear facility design, manufacturing, safety supervision, standards and specification certification attended the meeting. Dale Matthews, the commission's liaison officer for the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Volume III Committee, participated in the conference through a remote telephone. The meeting was co-chaired by the chairman of the working group, Yan Jinquan, vice president of the Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research and Design Institute, and vice chairman of the working group and Tang Weibao, chief engineer of Shanghai Electric Nuclear Power Group, and was undertaken by Shanghai Electric Nuclear Power Group.
The meeting focused on the evaluation of hydraulic expansion pipe technology, the acceptance criteria for additive manufacturing technology in nuclear power equipment, the requirements for the impact of water environment on fatigue, the feasibility of implementing ASME certified engineers in China, and the construction of domestic nuclear facilities such as the China Nuclear Power Machinery and Equipment Technology Alliance. Technical hotspots, difficulties in the field and related topics in the industry's basic research are discussed.
The conference listened to the "ASME Standard Week Technical Progress", "Introduction of main steam pipe penetrations for fused additive manufacturing", "Introduction of China Nuclear Power Machinery and Equipment Technology Alliance" and "Comparative Study of ASME Certified Engineer CE and Registered Engineer PRE" Reports, and reviewed 27 technical issues, 15 of which were discussed by the participating experts to obtain solutions, four proposals for the formation of the proposals will be submitted to the ASME Committee for further consideration, and 8 issues will continue to be studied after the meeting to be discussed next. More than 80% of technical issues can be solved at home. After the meeting, the working group will submit the draft of the standard case “Hydraulic Expanding Pipe Process Assessment” to the ASME Committee for the first time.
The ASME BPV III China International Working Group was established in April 2011 and was jointly constructed by the National Power Investment Group and ASME. After seven years of development, the work of the working group covered the entire industry of nuclear facilities construction, and 46 Chinese experts have been elected to the ASME Standards Committee as members. The working group actively guided industry experts to pay attention to the development, modification, and research directions of ASME codes and standards, and actively advocated domestic experts and scholars to actively participate in ASME in the construction of new nuclear power plants, the impact of water environment on fatigue, and research on non-destructive testing technologies. The joint work has made important contributions to China’s third-generation nuclear power technology going abroad.
