The 13th Conference of the International Working Group of ASME

From April 16 to April 17, 2018, the thirteenth working meeting of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessels Specification Volume II China International Working Group (BPVII CIWG) was held in Wuhan, Hubei Province. The conference was organized by Wuhan Boiler Co., Ltd. and more than 60 industry experts from the standardization organizations, supervisory agencies, engineering companies, design institutes, manufacturing units, inspection agencies, and steel plate and steel pipe manufacturers from the domestic and international pressure equipment industry. Participated in this meeting. The meeting was chaired by the chairman of the working group, Mr. Shou Biannan, the chief researcher of the China Special Inspection Institute, and Mr. Zhang Yong, the Hefei Technical Supervision Bureau, the vice chair of the working group. Mr. Zhou Gang, Technical Director of ATC-Engineering Services, and Mr. Chen Chaoming, General Manager of Wuguo attended the meeting. 

The meeting heard “standard week report”, “low hardness P91 steam pipe life assessment and comprehensive management”, “T91/P91 steel lasting strength and its allowable stress study”, “Chinese domestic boiler use Gr.91 steel does not fall with ASME “The possibility of allowable stress”, “the potential application of graphene in the pressure equipment industry” and “adjustment of the maximum hardness value of SA-213T22” six reports, and had a lively discussion. Each member unit reported and reviewed 12 issues and determined the next working arrangements. The meeting also discussed the addition of members to the working group. In addition, according to the spirit of the last meeting, the Task Force intends to set up a task force for issues such as the inconsistency of data processing methods for long-term data in China's materials and the ASME's concern about reducing the allowable stress of 91 steel in the industry. During the meeting, the participating experts and representatives visited the Wuguo laboratory, workshop and exhibition hall.

After the meeting, some delegates exchanged visits to Hubei Xinye Steel Co., Ltd. and held discussions with leading experts of Xinye Steel.
